From an early age I knew that I wanted to be part of Cabin Crew. My aunt worked as Cabin Crew and I loved listening to her stories about hearing all about the places she had been to.

I guess flying become quite normal to me from a young age too, as we used to travel to see family in Greece and Cyprus quite a bit.

I started my career with a company called Air 2000 back in the late 1990s. I went straight into that job as soon as I left uni and worked there for about 14 years. Air 2000 has been through a couple of mergers and is essentially Thompson today.

I remember my first flight going so quickly. It was a flight to Pathos, in Cyprus, and it was four and half hours there, and five hours back. We landed at Gatwick and I couldn’t believe that we had been to Cyprus and back in what felt like no time. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I loved it.

I’ve been very lucky to visit so many different places

I’ve been very lucky to visit so many different places. But I have favourite places for different things. Orlando for shopping and obviously Disney and the Maldives for sun tanning and snorkelling. But my most favourite place is Western Samoa.

I did two round-the-world trips with the company I worked for. In the winter months they sub-chartered their aircrafts to an American expeditions company, and back in the 1990s, passengers were paying $65,000 per ticket! The trip would be for about a month and it would go to lots of weird and wonderful places that I probably would never have got to go to if I had to pay for it.

The highlight of my career has to be winning the FE Sussex Vocational Teacher of the Year at the Sussex Teacher of the Year Awards in 2018.

I have been teaching for 14 years and the highlight of my career has to be winning the FE Sussex Vocational Teacher of the Year at the Sussex Teacher of the Year Awards in 2018. It is such a rewarding job and I love to see students go from strength to strength, become more independent and gain confidence, and then go on to do something that they love.
