“I've always wanted to design computer games. Growing up playing games was always a big interest of mine.”

The college atmosphere is very good and the course descriptions were exactly what I wanted to study. Plus, I live quite close to the college so it was an easy decision for me to study here.

I've always wanted to design computer games. Growing up and playing games was always a big interest of mine. I wasn't the best on a computer before I started the course, but it has really improved my skills.

Using Maya software, we’ve learnt how to 3D model, rig characters and create environments for games. We’ve also been using Adobe Premiere Pro to make and edit music videos and short films. In the second year, we’ll be learning more about computer programming and coding when we create 2D and 3D games. In groups, we’ll be able to come up with a game concept, design and create it, then present it to the rest of the class for them to play and critique.

The tutors are really nice and helpful. Whenever you ask a question they come over and explain things very well. They have impressive backgrounds too. One of our tutors has made a lot of music videos for well-known bands so we learn a lot from him about producing high-quality videos. Using his contacts, I’ve been able to secure some work experience with a charity to help shoot, cut, and edit a range of videos.

My dream is to work for a company that creates computer games. I’d love to be able to create environments and make characters. I was always a quiet kid at school and I feel like the college has brought me out of my shell. It is such a friendly place, the atmosphere is fun and great, I’ve made lots of friends and boosted my skills in computing - so my time at college has been really good so far!
